5-Minute chicken salad for dogs – homemade dog food recipe

To make this homemade dog food recipe salad you will need some cooked or baked chicken leftovers. Or you could plan ahead and cook some chicken the night before and let it cool over night.

How to 5-minute chicken salad for dogs

This recipe for dogs is super-easy, all you need to do is chop the chicken, shred some fruit and veggies, mix them together and throw some kibble on top. If you wish to make it even fancier you could fry some chopped bacon and drizzle it on top of everything.

What fruit and veggies to use for chicken salad for dogs: In this recipe I added shredded carrots, apples and baby spinach.  

Anytime you want to make sure your dog will eat fruit or veggies shred them before adding them to the meal.

Other variations of this 5-Minute salad  for dogs include:

5-Minute bacon salad for dogs which is made in the same manner but you use left over bacon instead of chicken;

  • 2 cups of chopped chicken meat (cooked or baked)
  • 3 medium carrots (shredded)
  • 2 apples (deseeded and shredded)
  • 2 cups baby spinach (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dry rosemary or 1 tsp fresh rosemary
  • ½ cup kibble
  • 1 cup fried bacon bits (optional)

# Step 1

Prepare the fruit and veggies. Wash them and peel them if you want (not necessary). Make sure you deseed the apples.

# Step 2

Chop the chicken meat and spinach. Shred the carrots and apples. Add some rosemary and olive oil and mix everything together. 

# Step 3

If desired brown some bacon bits in a pan and drizzle them on top of the salad.

# Step 4

The 5-minute chicken salad is ready to be served. I am 100% sure your dog will enjoy this meal. 

Chef’s Note: Give this salad to your dog occasionally. Consider this food a light and refreshing snack which is low on calories and does not replace regular meals.
